SELF-DISCOVERY STORY:

Facing My Demons with Ayahuasca

How 20 Shamanic Ceremonies with a Sacred Herb Helped Me Make Peace with Myself

―by Antoine Gee, guest writer

I can only speak for myself when I say that prior to my ceremonies with ayahuasca, I wasn’t able to see a fraction of what was going on inside of me. Our minds mull over the past and tell us what we need to forgive, accept, confess, release—so we think we’re seeing all of it. But we’re really just scratching the surface. What did I learn through my ceremonies with ayahuasca? I’m still piecing that together, but I will do my best to recount my journey for you so that perhaps it will be of use to someone out there. —Antoine Gee

Grace McEvoy

Photographer with a Natural Curiosity

―produced by Ralph Williams

My interview with Grace McEvoy took place on the front porch of her lovely East Austin home. I brought the kombucha and Grace brought the bug spray and the candor. I’ve known “Scorp-Girl” (she’s a Scorpio) for over 20 years now. We were once neighbors in the basement of the Austin History Center where she served as Photographic Specialist and where we collaborated on exhibits. She’s a dear friend, one of the coolest individuals I know, and she is a gifted photographer as you will soon see. —R. Williams
